Introduction
There are three network scenarios available to attack.
You will only pass the exam if you are able to complete and obtain proof.txt on two network scenarios. One of the scenarios will be mandatory to complete, more information will be provided in the exam control panel once your exam starts.
Everything that you need to retrieve the wireless keys is included in the exam system.
You will have 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete the challenge itself and a further 24 hours to send your documentation to the OffSec Challenges department.
Documentation Requirements
Your exam documentation must include the wireless network keys, the commands you used to obtain them and complete commands to connect to the target Access Point to gain the proof.txt. The report must be submitted in PDF format.
How do I take the certification exam?
You will be provided an exam VPN connectivity pack once your scheduled exam starts. You are assigned a Kali Linux machine with a card that you are to use for the attacks.
The provided Kali Linux machine should also include any dictionaries required for the attacks.
How do I schedule my certification exam?
To learn how to schedule an exam, how to see the amount of time you have left before your exam attempt expires or understand how rescheduling an exam works, please visit our Managing OffSec Certification Exams article.
Which resources I can use during my active exam?
OSWP exam is an open book exam, meaning you are permitted to use your notes, online resources (Except for AI chatbots and LLMs with direct prompt access), the OffSec Learning Platform, and similar materials. However, all your activities must be conducted on the host machine where the proctoring application is running, as the proctor will monitor your session.
Please keep in mind that you should not discuss anything about exam in any online resources. Discussing any information about exam and asking for hints on online forums or applications such as Discord is strictly prohibited and constitutes a violation of our academic policy. Your complaint will be reviewed by a member of the OffSec team not involved in the issue. To ensure a fair review in the event of a score dispute, your exam will be re-evaluated by someone who was not involved in the original grading.
You can expect a decision within 10 business days.
All complaint submissions and outcomes are kept confidential and you will not be penalized for submitting a good-faith complaint.
May I request feedback on the exam?
Certainly! You can request an exam feedback should you have provided your exam report with us and have insufficient points. Please contact us via email at "challenges AT offsec DOT com" and we will provide you with feedback within 10 business days.
How many OSWPs are there? What is the pass/fail rate?
We do not release the number of people that hold our certifications or the success rate of completion for them. The exam-taking experience and perceived difficulty is different for everyone and we don't want to needlessly discourage or encourage learners with numbers based on success or failure.
