This article provides answers to questions about the changes with the OSMR certification exam.
What is the change regarding the OSMR certification?
Effective November 2, 2025, OffSec has placed the issuance of new OSMR certifications on hiatus. No new OSMR exams are being issued or scheduled. Additionally, the EXP-312 course has been fully removed from the OffSec platform as of January 2026.
Why is OffSec placing the OSMR certification on hiatus?
The OSMR has been an important part of OffSec’s certification portfolio, focusing on privilege escalation, bypassing security controls, and exploiting vulnerabilities on Apple’s latest ARM (M-series) Macs. At this time, we are pausing the issuance of new OSMR certifications so we can focus on maintaining and expanding other areas of our certification program that best align with current industry needs.
I have earned my OSMR certification, will this still be valid?
This hiatus does not diminish the value of the OSMR. If you already hold it, your credential remains valid, respected, and will continue to be recognized by OffSec and employers.
Does this mean OSMR is gone forever?
Not necessarily. While we are not currently issuing new certifications, we continually assess industry needs and learner demand. If conditions change, we may revisit this decision in the future.
Will the course still be available?
The EXP-312 course has been fully removed from the OffSec platform as of January 2026. The window to download course materials also closed on December 31, 2025, and downloads are no longer available.
However, the EXP-312 content lives on through the following Learning Paths, accessible exclusively to active Learn Unlimited and Learn Enterprise subscribers:
- macOS Exploit Development and Penetration Testing: ARM
- macOS Exploit Development and Penetration Testing: Intel
Can I still schedule my OSMR exam on or after November 2, 2025?
No. Exams for OSMR will no longer be available starting November 2, 2025.
Can I obtain a completion letter upon completing the course offline?
Yes. After finishing all course labs, please submit your work in PDF format via email to challenges@offsec.com. You will receive feedback within ten (10) business days.
What if I have more questions?
If you have additional questions not covered here, please submit a request and we will be happy to assist you.
