We acknowledge that many tools and platforms now incorporate AI-powered features designed to improve productivity and efficiency. While you are not required to disable AI-enhanced applications such as Notion, Google AI Overview, or similar tools that assist with organization or summarization, there are restrictions on the use of AI chatbots and Large Language Models (LLMs), except in the case of the OSEE exam which the use of AI chatbots and LLMs are allowed.
Prohibited AI Usage
The usage of AI chatbots and LLMs including but not limited to OffSec KAI, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Gemini, Copilot and similar AI assistants is strictly prohibited during any OffSec exams except for OSEE which the usage is allowed.
Using LLMs and AI Chatbots would be similar to receiving help from a third-party due to their capabilities. In addition, it also counts as sharing exam information with a third-party which is a violation of our Academic Policy.
The primary objective of all OffSec exams are designed to test the learner's knowledge and skills and measure how much of the course content has been fully grasped and can be applied. Allowing LLMs and AI chatbots during the exam would lead to learners relying heavily on AI instead of thinking outside the box and applying their methodology, which is of utmost importance.
Allowed AI Usage
AI tools that function without prompts for direct assistance or are not interactive (e.g., Notion’s AI for note organization or Google AI Overview for search enhancements) are permitted as long as they are used in accordance with academic policies and do not facilitate unauthorized assistance on exams.
Violations of this policy will be considered breaches of our Academic Policy and may result in disciplinary action.
By reading this document, we hope we added some clarity to AI usage in OffSec exams. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact challenges@offsec.com.
