Users with unstable Internet connectivity might experience issues in the labs. Some consequences of this may be port scans not being consistent or frequent disconnects. In such cases you can check the ICMP response times against a machine that replies to ICMP requests.
We recommend users to have an average ICMP response time below 300 ms to avoid issues in the labs.
A high latency or packet loss might affect your scan results and you may run into some issues with the lab connectivity.
Solution: We highly recommend that you use a stable, high speed Internet connection such as Broadband or higher to access the labs. Mobile Internet such as 3G or 4G should be avoided.
If you are using Nmap to scan the machine, note that Nmap has several scan techniques available, and many options which you can use to optimise your scans in order to receive more stable and accurate results.
We suggest taking the time to explore all of the options and various scanning techniques Nmap has to offer, and visiting its official website at https://nmap.org/ for more information.
