This FAQ provides an overview of OffSec Private Events, a feature designed specifically for organizations that want to host exclusive, customizable cybersecurity competitions on the OffSec Platform. Unlike the public Gauntlet events open to all learners, Private Events offer your organization full control over event content, scoring, and participant access—enabling you to create tailored internal challenges in a secure, closed environment. Who can participate in a Private Event?
Only learners within your organization who have active Learn Enterprise (LE) subscriptions can participate. This ensures that your private event remains exclusive to your authorized team members with valid access.
How do Private Events differ from Public Events?
Private Events are not visible to the wider OffSec community and do not appear on the public Events page. You will have your own dedicated leaderboards and scoring systems, giving you full control while maintaining competition integrity within your organization. Plus, you can customize key parameters such as event duration, labs included, content release schedule, and scoring bonuses to best fit your goals.
What aspects of a Private Event can my organization customize?
You can tailor your event’s name, banner, description, duration, lab selection and count, and the cadence for releasing content (all at once, daily, or weekly). The competition format supports individual participation, and you can configure scoring bonuses for first, second, and third finishers on labs. You also have control over what event details and lab information are visible to your participants.
How is scoring handled for Private Events?
Participants earn points for each valid flag submission. You can enable bonus points for the first few participants who complete a lab, which encourages faster competition. If there’s a tie in points, the leaderboard uses the timestamp of the last valid submission to break the tie, rewarding quicker completions.
How can my organization request a Private Event?
To set up a Private Event, please reach out to your OffSec Customer Success representative. Our team will work with you to gather all event details—such as themes, lab types and counts, scoring preferences, duration, and branding. Once your event parameters are finalized, we will configure and launch the event exclusively for your organization.
How do participants register for the event?
Your eligible learners (those with active Learn Enterprise subscription) will find your Private Event listed on the OffSec Platform’s Events page, visible only to your organization. They can register through a simple self-service process as follows, and will receive a confirmation email once registered:
- Log in to your OffSec learning Platform account.
- Locate the event banner on the Event Overview page.
- Click the “Register” button
Are there limitations on the number of participants?
To maintain optimal platform performance, Private Events support up to 40 participants competing simultaneously.
Is team competition available in Private Events?
At this time, Private Events support individual competition only; team play is not available.
Can labs be shared across multiple Private Events at the same time?
No. Each Private Event running concurrently within your organization needs to have a unique set of labs. Sharing labs across simultaneous events is not supported.
How will my participants be notified?
Participants will be sent email notifications to confirm registration, as well as alerts when the event begins and ends, helping keep everyone informed throughout the competition.
Where can participants monitor their progress?
Once registered, your team members can track their progress, view live leaderboards, and monitor lab status directly within the Events section on the OffSec Platform.
