OffSec is introducing an updated Module and lab experience designed to make learning more intuitive, efficient, and easier to navigate.
The redesigned interface brings course content, progress information, and key learning tools into a more unified workspace so learners can stay focused without unnecessary navigation.
What’s changing?
A redesigned Module experience
The new Module interface gives learners a clearer, more organized way to move through course content.
A persistent syllabus makes it easier to understand where you are in a Module, while section and lab progress are visible at a glance. Learners can also access key tools directly from the Module page, including:
- Bookmarks
- Ask KAI
- VPN controls
- Split Screen
- XP progress
- Previous and next section navigation
This creates a more continuous learning experience and reduces the need to move between different pages or menus.
Easier visibility into progress
Important information such as section progress, lab progress, XP, and learning status is easier to see while working through a Module.
Clearer progress indicators help learners quickly understand what they have completed and what comes next.
A more streamlined lab workflow
Common lab actions are being brought together into a more consistent experience, including:
- Starting and managing lab machines
- Managing VPN access
- Submitting flags
- Exiting a lab
- Viewing XP and progress
The goal is to reduce unnecessary navigation and make hands-on work feel more connected to the learning content around it.
Split Screen for hands-on learning
A new Split Screen option allows learners to view instructions and their virtual machine environment side by side.
This makes it easier to follow lab instructions while completing hands-on exercises without repeatedly switching between tabs or windows.
Improved activity tracking
Learners will have access to a chronological activity history showing key actions during a lab session, including machine activity and flag submissions.
This provides greater visibility into recent lab activity and progress.
Real-time progress updates
XP and flag progress will update as learners work through labs, providing clearer and more immediate feedback on their progress.
Improved experience across devices
The redesigned experience is being built to work across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, providing a more consistent learning experience across different screen sizes.
