If you encounter a problem with your virtual machine or lab connection while working through PEN-200, you can report the issue directly from the VM card in the OffSec Learning Platform.
The Report an issue option lets you send information about the problem from the same page where you are working, helping OffSec teams receive the context needed to investigate the issue.
What does the feature cover?
The reporting workflow is intended for reported VM and connectivity issues, such as problems involving:
- VPN connectivity
- Lab virtual machines
- MyKali or MyWindows environments
- Other connectivity-related lab problems
This workflow is separate from the existing lab/content rating and feedback system.
How to report an issue
From your PEN-200 lab:
- Locate the VM card.
- Select Report an issue.
- Choose the appropriate Issue type.
- Enter a description of the problem.
- Submit your report.
The description must contain at least 30 characters and can contain up to 1,000 characters.
Once your report has been successfully submitted, you will see a confirmation and the VM card will display Issue reported.
What information should I include?
Provide a clear description of what you experienced.
For example, you may want to explain:
- What you were trying to do
- What happened instead
- Any error message you received
- Whether the issue appears to affect your VM, VPN, or connectivity
You do not need to manually provide technical information that the platform already has available. Relevant context about your lab session is automatically captured with your report.
How often can I report an issue?
To help prevent duplicate reports, reporting is subject to a cooldown.
After submitting an issue for a lab, you may need to wait up to 24 hours before submitting another report for the same applicable lab.
Can I attach a screenshot or file?
No. File and image attachments are not currently supported through the Report an issue form.
If additional information is required to investigate your report, an OffSec team member may contact you separately.
Will I receive an email after submitting a report?
No automated email confirmation is sent when a report is submitted.
The confirmation shown in the Learning Platform indicates that your report was successfully received.
Will I be notified when the issue is resolved?
There is currently no automated resolution notification through this feature.
If follow-up is required, the appropriate OffSec team may contact you separately.
Where is this feature available?
The initial release of Report an issue is available for PEN-200.
Availability may be expanded to additional OffSec learning content in the future.
